paperclip earrings

A few months ago I stumbled upon the Evie S. blog's tutorial to make earrings from paperclips and I couldn't wait to try it! My jewelry is a little lacking these days and is in great need of being revamped. Project number one was these earrings.
I love how they turned out and I get a ton of compliments when I wear them. Plus they're super light and very easy to make and cheap! Win-win-win.
I also made these pair.
I can't wait to try out a few more ideas. Check out Evie S.'  tutorial here

new specs

{Glasses c/o; Urban Outfitters blazer; Old Navy shirt; thrifted belt and jeans; Steve Madden boots}

When I started this blog, I decided if I ever got to the point that I had companies approach me to do product reviews, I wouldn't accept anything just to get free stuff. I wanted to keep my readers in mind and only choose what would apply to them. When GlassesUSA contacted me I originally turned them down. BUT then I started thinking how annoying it is to not have glasses when you really need them and thought that one of my readers may be in the same boat. If you recall this post, I was living on a pair of outdated and broken glasses for much too long and was so grateful when I got new ones. So this post is for anyone who is in need of glasses like I was. And if helps even one person be able to afford a new pair then I'll be a happy blogger. Read on... there's a discount for you!

So here's the scoop on They believe that seeing properly shouldn't be a luxury. It should be a necessity. Oh how I agree! Having the correct eyeglasses has made a world of difference for me. They have a 110% lowest price guarantee and 100% satisfaction guarantee. They even have a virtual mirror so you can see the glasses on you before you purchase! So fun! They have so many adorable pairs of prescription glasses! They also have a refer-a-friend program to help you save a little more money. And if you want more discounts, check out their Facebook page.

To get 30% off any pair of glasses and free US shipping, use code Holiday11 or to get 10% off any order use code Blog10. Happy shopping! If any of you buy glasses, send me a pic! I'd love to see.

Christmas morning.
Opening our stockings.
One of Mason's gifts from me was a helicopter. He hasn't stopped playing with it.
Mason bought me Hunter rain boots!!! I can't wait to wear them.
Sausage souffle breakfast. A family Christmas tradition.
Our Christmas stockings made by me.

This Christmas was, hands down, the best we've had yet.
Family, games, food food food, and lots of laughing.
I am so sad to see the season go but am very excited to greet a new year.
I have a feeling it's going to be a good year.

How was everyone's Christmas?

Sometimes days go perfectly as planned.
Sometimes they don't.
You get home from work to find your husband doubled over in excruciating pain and all the plans for the evening go forgotten as you rush your guy to the hospital.
Mason ended up having acute appendicitis. We walked thru the ER doors at seven and he was in surgery by 10:30. Everything went incredibly smoothly. No rupturing of his appendix. Phew!!!
Mason was at his prime the whole time we were at the hospital. For those that have never met him, he's a super talkative, hilarious, happy guy. He had everyone rolling at the hospital.
After surgery, his mom and I were waiting in his room. When the door opened to bring him in, all I could hear was Mason mumbling and the nurses laughing hysterically.
The nurses gave me a toothbrush and scrubs to sleep in so I never had to leave his side. Mason, in his drugged state, told me I looked "hot" at least four times thru the night. I though it was especially funny because he typically uses other words than "hot" when he thinks I look good. His mom also brought him this cute guy to keep him company.
What a week! We're home now. Relaxing, and Mason's recovery is going great! It's been full of episodes of Arrested Development and Bones and reading the Hunger Games. Oh, and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Lots and lots of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

So now I'm catching up on everything. We don't have Christmas decorations up yet! And all unanswered emails shall be returned soon.

Thank heavens for modern medicine. I love my husband.

laverne & shirley & an easy sweater refashion

Did you guys ever watch Laverne & Shirley growing up? It was one of my favorite shows. I thought it was hilarious! I loved the way they dressed and I especially loved Laverne's sweaters. For those that don't know, Laverne always had a giant L on whatever she wore. I loved it! And I secretly wished my name started with an L for a while.

Well, I was at a craft store this week and stumbled upon some iron on letters. And I knew the time had come for me to begin wearing K's on my clothing. I'm just starting with one sweater.... and probably ending here too. BUT my childhood fashion fantasy has been fulfilled.

I'm wearing the sweater my way! Yes, my way! Made all my dreams come true!
Oh how I miss that show.
